I look at our world a bit differently. As a young adventurer, climber and outdoorsman, I learned the value of the natural world and saw a growing need for stewardship and conservation. Now, as an Earth Science major at Dickinson College and intern at the Pennsylvania Geological Survey, I have to pay attention to the smaller details in our environment. I use my skills in analytical observation and creative thinking to piece together a more complex and dynamic view of the Earth and its systems, a view I believe is vital to serving that roll as a steward to our shared planet. During my time at Dickinson, I've become especially interested in the use of geophysical methods for understanding the way geology, hydrology and biology interact in the Critical Zone. I've been able to hone my surveying skills through a research experience with the Bedrock Critical Zone Network and am applying them through my senior thesis project surveying sinkholes in Central Pennsylvania.Upon my graduation, I plan to pursue a career in environmental geoscience and geoscience education. I am passionate about solving problems and working with people to make our world safer and more habitable for the future.
