I have been a fabricator/welder at billingtons for just over 3 years. I started out as an improver, learning the basics and advanced skills of structural fabrication and welding, during my time I have completed many projects individually as well as in a team using all of my skills from my previous workplaces and what I have learned here at Billingtons.

I was an apprentice welder/fabricator at MTL for 2 years while completing my level 3 advanced apprenticeship in welding and fabrication. During this time, i learned many skills and qualities such as being consistently punctual, growing confidence, being independent and also being a team player. The practical skills I have learned are how to fabricate and read engineering drawings, mig weld, tig weld, stick weld, how to use a plasma cutter, using oxyfuel cutting equipment safely and many other tools and equipment. I have also had a training course in the use of a 10tone overhead crane and in health and safety. I have worked on many different types of material ranging from 3mm to 50mm such as armour steel, different grades of stainless steel mild steel as well as aluminium. I have done a small amount of structural work while I have been here, I helped build a bridge and few support beams to erect a large water feature.
