Senior Software Engineer
- Played a key role insourcing a loan origination system utilizing Quarkus as the main Java framework and JUnit for writing tests. This system decisioned hundreds of applications a day by combining logical rules with third party API calls to Equifax and CarletonDocs, allowing for significantly reduced errors, improved error handling, enhanced rule version flexibility, and advanced data analysis- Worked on a Ruby on Rails MVC app that gave company users the ability to complete day-to-day tasks related to viewing and modifying in-progress loan applications. These tasks included verifying documents, manually decisioning applications, checking to make sure the rule engine hit the correct rules, and answering phone questions - Engineered a process in Python to automatically move data between a SQL database and a third party loan servicer. Data was transferred by generating a weekly file in a fixed format and uploading it to an SFTP endpoint- Automated sending adverse action notice emails to applicants who were declined. This included encoding email PDFs to base64, storing them in the database, using a Python script to send emails, and a cron job to monitor for failures- Utilized CI/CD via Concourse to complete Jira tickets in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining high software integrity through test driven development- Collaborated with team members daily in a pair programming environment
