During my part time employment at the Miami University Print Center I worked at the front desk as a sales representative while still maintaining sixteen credit hours and working in a lab. It was my responsibility to help costumers if they had any inquiries regarding prints and other store related issue. A majority of tasks I preformed involved time dependent situations where a costumer needed the product the same day or next day. Working at the print center helped develop my communication, technological, and time management skills.

As a Freshman I requested to be a part of a lab with Dr. Shuisong's undergraduate and graduate research team. I was given a protein with an unsolved structure and was presented with the challenge of solving it. While under Dr. Shuisong's tutelage I was taught laboratory procedures such as cloning, PCR, protein expression, and how to properly operate our lab equipment, which includes a French Press, liquid chromatography, and crystallization sets. Being provided an opportunity with hands on experience while taking classes discussing the very same methods helped bridge the gap between "learning" and actually "doing".

West Chester, Ohio

While employed by El Rancho Grande I was a full time server. As a server I was in a fast pace environment faced with hungry people who came into the restaurant at a high rate. Under such circumstances I acclimated to these situations by being a sociable polite waiter who made sure the guests were always happy. I also had to overcome the obstacle of performing in a mainly Spanish-speaking environment, when I knew very little Spanish. To preform at maximum efficiency I used what little Spanish I knew and my communication skills to make sure all orders were prepared properly. When all didn't go as planned I adapted and made it work to make sure that my customers and boss were satisfied.
