Plan, organize, and/or perform NBI, fracture critical, in-depth, and special bridge inspectionsas required by the National Bridge Inspection Standards on Ohio River and Big Sandy River bridges that connect Kentucky to an adjacent state.Visit bridge sites to ensure the bridges are being properly inspected by the consulting engineers and doing it in accordance with OSHA standards.Manage interstate agreements for joint maintenance of the border bridges. Participate in the bi-state meetings. Coordinate the joint annual Ohio River and Big Sandy River inspections.Write proposals and estimates for bridge maintenance contracts on Ohio River and Big Sandy River structures.Participate in consultant pre-qualification and procurement process.Attend and participate in Division of Maintenance Meetings, Bridge Preservation Branch meetings, and the annual Bridge Preservation Conference.

Perform professional engineering work in planning, design, construction and maintenance of highways as it relates to structures. Reviews department plans and specifications and interprets same for contractors, local officials and department personnel. Oversees and performs detailed inspection of all State and County bridges in District Eight in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Program. Performs bridge climbing with rope access techniques and/or ladders as required. Completes inspection reports and manages PONTIS database. Oversees and completes structural inventory and appraisal inspections and updates the bridge inventory as required.Assist District Bridge Engineer in the design and layout of the new county structures. Including detailed estimates of construction cost as required. Assists the District Bridge Engineer in the construction inspection of these county structures. Oversees field maintenance activities while providing work zone traffic control for bridge inspection operations. Acts as team leader and coordinates the bridge inspection work of other District Bridge Inspectors. Provides technical support to other engineering functions in district and Central Office.Supervise District Eight Guardrail Maintenance Contract.

Perform detailed inspections of all public highway structures in District 8 in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Program.Complete reports, appraisals and maintain PONTIS database.Perform bridge climbing with ropes and/or ladders, Climb, walk, wade, cut brush and other physical activities necessary toinspect bridges. Operate bridge inspection trucks.Supervise field maintenance personnel while providing work-zone traffic control for inspections. Act as team leader andcoordinate other District Bridge Inspectors' work.Maintain proficiency on the use of PONTIS database and support software. Assist District Bridge Engineer with the costestimate/design and construction inspections of new county-owned structures.Supervise District 8 guardrail maintenance repairs.Use of office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, printers, laser distance measuring devices, GPS, digital camera.

Perform all aspects of Routine Bridge InspectionBridge Climbing with ropes, operate bridge inspection trucks.Lead Team Inspections within district on Non-Complex and Complex structures.Assist in intra-district bridge inspections on complex structures.Supervise District 8 Guardrail MaintenanceReview and approve bridge inspections in Pontis National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) Team Leader since July 2009. Successful Completion of PE Exam April 2011.

Assist qualified NBIS inspectors in the detailed inspection of county and state owned highway structures in District 8.Organize inspection photos and upload them to the Kentucky Virtual File Cabinet.Perform bridge inspection climbing with ropes and/or ladders, Climb, walk, wade, cut brush, and other physical activitiesnecessary to inspect bridges, operate bridge inspection trucks.Supervise field maintenance personnel while providing work zone traffic control for inspections.Use office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, printers, laser measuring devices, GPS, digital camera.Gain proficiency on the use of PONTIS bridge management database and support software including: Kentucky Virtual FileCabinet, Simp-Spam and Adobe Photoshop.Assist District Bridge Engineer on various task.

Oversees and inspects portions of construction projects. Interprets construction plans and specifications.Completes project documentation including daily work reports, diaries, and materials forms.
