I worked on a range of different projects relating to coastal and oceanographic processes. My main areas of work were:• Coastal hazard analysis, including: Modelling coastal flood levels using Monte Carlo analysis of tides, storm surge, and relative sea level rise; extreme value analysis of wind and wave events; fetch-limited wind wave analysis; hydrodynamic modelling of storm events in Delft3D; modelling wave runup, overtopping, and inundation; assessing flood risk to community infrastructure; assessing change in flood risk due to climate change; and erosion risk assessment.• Design of coastal structures, including: Assessing elevations and slopes for revetment and breakwater design; assessing rock size and gradation for revetment and breakwater design; wave wall design; coordination and review of design drawing packages; and preparation of technical specifications for construction.• Oceanography, including: Design of oceanographic sampling plans; preparation and deployment of oceanographic instruments to measure ocean currents, waves, sediment transport, and water column properties; processing, analysis, and reporting of oceanographic field data; and supervision of junior staff and subcontractors to uphold high standards of health and safety. • Environmental Impact Assessment, by estimating the environmental impacts due to vessel movement, dredging, and sediment disposal based on modelling, measured field data, laboratory tests, and desktop literature review.• Project Management, by serving as project manager for coastal hazard analysis and oceanographic data collection projects, which included: Preparing proposal documents; tracking budgets and schedules; managing invoicing and payments; managing client communications and presentations; overseeing health & safety; and supporting junior staff.
