My role as a process engineer at the Nutrien Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations include ensuring the plant is safely managed and finding ways to improve the process for both efficiency and safety. My role is mostly focused on Urea, granulated fertilizer, and Utilities, cooling water production.Job Responsibilities:- Equipment and process improvement and troubleshooting- Management of Change (MOC) projects- Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA)

Experience in pipeline and process engineering, from Conceptual to Pre-Feasibility Studies. My experience includes long distance slurry and concentrate pipelines. My focus has been the development of hydraulic modeling and analysis for large slurry pipeline projects around the world including India, Morocco, Indonesia and Cuba.My major project include:- Ore Transport Logistics Study – Cuba- Thriveni Surjagarh to Konsari Iron Ore Pipeline – India – Conceptual Study- JESA-OCP North Axis Modifications – Morocco – Conceptual Study- PTFI MOPH2 Pyrite Concentrate Pipeline System – Conceptual and Pre-Feasibility Study - IndonesiaMy technical work has included route mapping, pipeline hydraulic modeling and calculations, Cost Estimating, Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Mass Balances, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Trade-Off Studies, Reports and Presentations.I have also been involved in peer reviews and assisting with the development of deliverables such as line lists, valve lists, valve datasheets and more for various projects.Outside of engineering technical work I am responsible for managing active project proposals and preparing both technical and commercial proposals. My proposal work includes preparing cost estimates for our team to complete Conceptual, Basic or Detailed projects and high-level project schedules.

This was my third and final co-op position with Nutrien working as a Chemical Engineering Intern at their Joffre Nitrogen Operations (JNO), for 8 months. During my internship at JNO I gained experience in Chemical Engineering, Process Safety Management and Project Management. My focus during my work term was managing and assisting with various inspection projects. My major projects include:- JNO’s 2020 turnaround to inspect and make necessary repairs to critical process equipment.- Sanitary Pond InspectionOther projects, studies and assessments:- Ammonia Vent Drum Capacity Assessment- Cold Ammonia Storage Tank Dyke Survey- PSV Contingency Study- Fire Suppression System Project- Greenhouse Gas Audit- Ammonia Converter Gasket Swap o Planning and tracking the steps for gasket swap o Pre-job hazard assessmentAdditional work I was responsible for included leading operational risk management meetings and monthly process safety management meetings. Also, preparing process monitoring with Power BI, production reports, and process engineering calculations.

A 4-month co-op position with Nutrien working as a Process Engineering Intern at their Carseland Nitrogen Operations (CNO). During my internship at CNO I gained experience in Process Engineering, Process Safety Management and Project Engineering. My focus during my work term was to assist with the Carseland 36,000 tonne Cold Ammonia Storage Tank Internal Inspection Project.My major responsibilities during the project included documenting the process of the tank inspection for later review to discuss findings and learning experiences for future inspections, discussing project findings with contractors and leading Pre-Startup Safety Reviews for newly installed equipment for the storage tank. Outside of the inspection project, some other key tasks I was assigned included:- Prepared isometric drawings- Prepared Management of Change Design Packages- Reviewed and mark-up P&IDs to match changes made to the pipelines

My first 4-month co-op position with Nutrien working as a Project Management Officer at their corporate office in Calgary, Alberta. During my internship with Nutrien I gained experience in Project Management working with other project management officers to evaluate proposed projects for all of Nutrien’s Nitrogen Facilities, cross comparison of projects, budget analyses and operation productivity improvements.Projects and tasks I completed include:- Cross compared approved project budgets to determine approved budget- Cross compared project budgets applied for and how many received approval- Built excel calculators to track plant production rates, storage capacities, loadout rates- Terminal expansion project review- Bidding and procuring for heat exchanger replacement- Budget plan analysis of planned projects and their forecasted budgets- Go/No Go decision tree to use urea for Environmentally Smart Nitrogen production- Steam Methane Reformer Catalyst Tube Study
