The project was in initial phases of construction, which allowed me to gain valuable experience in long term project planning and execution. I supported staff with on-site visits, completed quantity tracking and takeoffs for barriers, and created guides for new programs being implemented on the project. I also organized a project rollplot using Bluebeam and related construction drawings to assist the team in future planning efforts in MOT phasing and project rollout. I completed survey requests for bridges and created an information work plan for bridge footing excavations. I ordered ground disturbance permits for excavation efforts and visited a casting yard and learned how girders are constructed and tested by WSDOT. Show less

The timing also enabled me to strengthen my communication skills and build strong relationships with the people around me while working on complex and challenging assignments. While on the project, I was fortunate to work alongside many talented engineers, construction managers and field personnel. I was tasked with difficult and often complex tasks, which pushed me and taught me a tremendous amount about the project in a short period of time. A few goals I accomplished during this time include coordinating and conducting a sign survey, planning, organizing and executing a tree survey and completing quantity takeoffs for bridges and walls.
