Part of the Global Product Engineering Department at Tempur Sealy International. Major responsibilities include testing Value Add Value Engineering (VAVE) changes to the product for cost saving measures. Testing performed includes acoustic, lifecycle, and mechanical testing. Projected total project savings as a result of projects currently completed exceeds one million dollars. Additional responsibilities include quality control of the manufacturing process/finished product and large rework of finished products.

Performed primarily density functional theory (DFT) calculations and molecular dynamics as well as, to a lesser extent, monte carlo and finite element method (FEM) calculations. DFT calculations were performed on highly parallel computing (HPC) resources under the NSF XSEDE program. Utilized hybrid functionals to investigate functionalized and doped titanium oxide nanoparticles to predict chemical potential in aqueous and vapor environments. Generated thermodynamic potential values, band gap, UV-Vis, and FTIR to compare the results to physical experimentation. Knowledge gathered from titanium oxide was applied to ruthenium oxide nanoparticles.

Taught second and third year year undergraduate materials lab courses for three semesters.

Spearheaded the use of solidification software, utilized design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA), and performed microscopy and materials testing.
