Evan Chow Email and Phone Number
Hello!I am a mechanical engineer that graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University in May 2024.My interests are in the software side of robotics, autonomous vehicles, and cyber physical systems. I have conducted undergraduate research for numerous robotics labs, and was a Software Developer for the Vanderbilt Robotics team. I have experience in software development for perception and localization algorithms in autonomous vehicle navigation and hardware development for wearable devices. Check out my portfolio for more information: https://evanchow02.github.io/. I also have professional experience at DENSO, working on developing and deploying apps that streamlined mission ordering for their autonomous robot fleet within their manufacturing plant.I am currently an Electrical Controls Engineer for DENSO’s automation department, and my hope is to continue pursuing a career in the robotics industry. I believe connecting with others and empathizing with their experiences is one of the most valuable and rewarding ways to learn and grow, so I love meeting new people. Let’s connect and let the learning and growing continue!

Mentor For Vanderbilt Asme (Former Vice President)Asme (The American Society Of Mechanical Engineers) Apr 2022 - Apr 2024Nashville, Tennessee, United StatesThe American Society of Mechanical Engineers chapter at Vanderbilt University provides engineering students resources to further explore and advance their engineering interests. As Vice President of Career Development, I oversaw networking and company outreach for the engineers within the club. As a mechanical engineering student myself, I struggled with knowing where to take my degree, especially within the vast field and applications of mechanical engineering. Thus, my goal is to continue learning and sharing about the field of mechanical engineering as a mentor to help guide others toward a better future career. -
Robotics InternDenso May 2023 - Aug 2023Maryville, Tennessee, United States- Designed and developed 6 GUIs that helped associates on the manufacturing floor order missions for autonomous logistic robots, resulting in an 80.3% reduction in mission ordering inefficiencies and errors- Interfaced with 40 autonomous logistic robots (MiR) through an API (MiR Fleet) to create mission ordering logs and collect mission ordering data for engineers to better analyze the workflow of the robots in the plant -
Software ProgrammerVanderbilt Robotics Team Aug 2022 - Aug 2023Nashville, Tennessee, United States -
Research Assistant, Institute For Software Integrated SystemsVanderbilt University Dec 2022 - May 2023Nashville, Tennessee, United States- Assembled hardware and Raspberry Pi stacks for 100 cars, participating in a large-scale traffic study - Designed and 3D-printed a Raspberry Pi case to ensure Raspberry Pi stacks could be safely installed in the cars of individuals participating in a long-term driving pattern data collection study- Developed a Bash script to delete local files on a Raspberry Pi, ensuring the Pi remained at a specified storage -
Undergraduate Researcher, Robotics And Autonomous Systems LaboratoryVanderbilt University Feb 2022 - Aug 2022Nashville, Tennessee, United States- Integrated thermal sensation into augmented reality by building a wearable 4x4 haptic thermal delivery mechanism capable of reaching temperatures between -40ᵒC and 85ᵒC- Programmed C++ control algorithms that handled heat detection and heat delivery for the thermal system, allowing for the creation of unique temperature profiles on the thermal array- Configured Python scripts to collect the heat system’s thermal data while worn by a human, resulting in the thermal capability of the device to change skin temperatures to ±20ᵒC of the initial skin temperature - Developed 4 GUIs with Unity that created dynamic thermal sensations from the array for human subject tests -
Licensing Intern, Center Of Technology Transfer And CommercializationVanderbilt University May 2021 - Aug 2021Nashville, Tennessee, United States- Led 2 marketing campaigns for inventions developed by Vanderbilt employees and students- Contacted and corresponded with relevant companies and businesses for potential licensing agreements- Managed, organized, and updated intellectual property and patents for Vanderbilt employees and students- Worked with team of senior licensing officers to publish non-confidential summaries for future marketing
