My first couple jobs started with me lifeguarding, then I moved to retail and made a decision in 2008, to go back to school and obtain my undergraduate degree in the the field of Chemistry. It took a while but in 2015 I secured my degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. By the time I received my degree from Howard University, I held over three tutoring positions in the subject of math and part time work in retail. Now that I've graduated I'm interested in giving back to my community through education. I can teach children from elementary to high school in science and math. I can also relate to a lot of students because they're growing up in an environment very similar to the one that I grew up in. If I'm able to help more students obtain a firmer grip of subjects like math and science maybe I can increase the number of STEM graduates from this area.
