About Evan James

Hi, I'm Evan. I work as a Systems Engineer in mission operations for MAVEN, a planetary science and relay mission orbiting Mars. I am excited by the complex challenges which come from complex systems, and how to overcome them to make cool things happen in space.I have a M.S. in Space Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in computer science from CU Boulder. My background is strongest in mission operations, flight and ground software systems, and mission design.Outside of work I spend time teaching, making, and maintaining in the woodshop at denhac, the Denver hackerspace (https://denhac.org/). I also love to tinker with bikes and old film cameras, work in the garden, and hunt for interesting rocks.
