Profile bio

About Evan Langille

I am a goal oriented, motivated, and energetic analytical chemist. My career focus is in bioanalytical chemistry. I have spent much of my early career collaborating with biologists and biochemists studying a variety of topics using both chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques, primarily on HPLC, LC-MS and GC-MS. I have a broad skillset developing analytical and process methods including beer, microbial cultures, APIs and human plasma on both analytical and preparative scales using both batch and continuous flow processes. I am also highly skilled in both molecular biology and protein production, purification, and downstream processing. I enjoy teaching, both formally in a classroom or lab setting, as well as supervising students for co-op and honours projects. I am a strong team player and have a wealth of experience and knowledge to bring to any projects I am involved in.

Listed skills include Research, Public Speaking, Microsoft Office, Social Media, and 29 others.

Combine synthesis, flow chemistry, chromatography and mass spectrometry to continue new development in MIP technologies that selectively extract desired analyte(s) from a biological matrix with application in therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM). Specifically, I directly developed two MIP devices and methods for mycophenolic acid (an immunosuppressant) and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (chemotherapeutic agents) in human plasma. I also contributed to several other MIP related projects and advancements in the group related to environmental monitoring and process development.I am also leading a collaborative project with the lab of Dr. Andrew Lang (microbiology), studying gene transfer agents (GTAs) that are produced by some bacteria. I have successfully applied my analytical expertise to develop a method for preparative monolithic HPLC purification of these particles for further study, in addition to developing molecular biology, cloning and protein work for expression of recombinant proteins. Finally, Dr. Lang and I were successful in obtaining an OFI seed fund grant to begin studying the degradation of crude oil and the subsequent production of terpenes using Rhodobacter. Show less
