Evan Lim, Undergraduate Student, Economics and Cognitive NeuroscienceI am an undergraduate Economics and Cognitive Neuroscience double major at the University of California, Davis. As a UC Davis student, I have been pushed to challenge myself, and pursue dreams that used to seem unattainable. My goal is to one day help create a product that can cure depression and other mental illnesses. I am extremely interested in helping to reduce the mental health crisis in the world, which is at an all-time high. I have seen countless cases where people suffer from these types of illnesses and can be detrimental to their well-being. This is why, each and every day, I strive to be kind to those around me, because, in my eyes, you never know what underlying problems people are going through.At UC Davis, I am also an executive member of the UC Davis Club volleyball team. As the Travel Coordinator, I am responsible for organizing the team’s housing and transportation to tournaments across the country. This position involves a lot of organization, communication and responsibility, which can easily be translated into the workplace. Prior to taking the Travel Coordinator position, I was also fundraising chair, which involved communicating with local businesses to create partnerships for fundraising events.Additionally, as a brother of the Sigma Nu fraternity, I am constantly involved with philanthropy events such as helping out at local community gardens, trekking for the veterans, to name a few. The foundation of the brotherhood revolves around 3 words: Love, Honour, Truth. As brothers of Sigma Nu, we hold ourselves to a higher standard, ensuring that every action we take has these foundational philosophies at heart.
