Starting my professional career after university and entering the realm of project management, I found myself intrigued by its potential as a career path for the same reasons I enjoy role playing games (RPGs). Project management, like in RPGs, facilitates freedom and encourages creativity in the decision making process (how to “progress through the game”); the consultant (the “player”) is reliant on the accrual of knowledge and skills based on previous experiences to most efficiently complete the project (the “game’s campaign”). For over five years, I have developed my knowledge and skills leveraging project management best practices to help clients introduce new products and capabilities to their organization. During my time at Java Productions, Inc. (JPI), I utilized project management methodologies, Traditional (Waterfall) and Agile (Scrum), as well as other process frameworks, such as the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC), to help United States Coast Guard USCG clients deliver Information Technology (IT) projects, including desktop Operating System (OS) upgrades and Cloud migration initiatives, providing the organization’s 50,000 customer base with the latest commercial OS capabilities, advancing the organization’s utilization and footprint within the Cloud Computing environment, and maintaining compliance with government and commercial product support timelines.
