My practice focuses on securing zoning and land use approvals for developers and landowners in jurisdictions throughout Northern Virginia, particularly in Arlington, Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, and the City of Falls Church, among others. I advise clients on state and federal legislation and regulations affecting real estate development and important changes to local jurisdictions' comprehensive plans and zoning ordinances. My clients include mixed-use project developers, large corporate clients as well as some work for nonprofits and churches. I am an experienced litigator having worked with the Environment & Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, serving as lead counsel on 25 civil cases in federal court.

I am an Arlington, Va.-based land use lawyer. My practice primarily focuses on securing zoning and land use approvals for developers and landowners in jurisdictions throughout Northern Virginia, including Arlington, Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax and the City of Falls Church, among others. From 2007 to December 21, 2016, I was an attorney at the Northern Virginia land use and development firm of Walsh Colucci Lubeley & Walsh. I monitor and advise clients regarding state and federal legislation and regulations that affect real estate development and important changes to local jurisdictions’ comprehensive plans and zoning ordinances. I work with a diverse array of clientele, including mixed-use project developers, large corporate clients as well as some work for non-profits and churches. Much of my recent work revolves around redevelopment in Arlington County and Tysons. As an experienced litigator, a component of my practice does involve land use litigation as well. Prior to joining the firm, I was a litigator within the Environment & Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. The independence, responsibility and authority I had in that role provided me with the leadership skills needed to efficiently and effectively manage the multiple parties involved in my land use matters. In addition, my time in public service sharpened my organization and preparation skills. This benefits my clients in my private practice because many aspects of a land use matter are strategically thought through well in advance, which helps to ensure a swift and timely resolution. I pride myself on my ability to work well with a diverse range of personalities and stakeholders, including elected officials, county staff and community members, to collaboratively achieve my clients’ goals.
