Robotics Team President & Business Lead - Frc 5113 Combustible Lemons
Moorestown, New Jersey, United States
My experience on FIRST Robotics Competition Team 5113, the Combustible Lemons, was absolutely critical to the development of my leadership and professional skills and interests. I was elected as team president for the 2022-2023 season and served as the business operations subteam lead from 2021-2022.As president of a team of 40 students, I coordinated design and implementation of a tank-drive metal bar robot with autonomous and teleoperated control, featuring camera tracking and both motorized & pneumatic manipulation. As engineering project manager, I supervised and communicated between electrical, software, and mechanical subteams using Gantt charts and status reports while providing machine shop support. Of course, I enjoyed shaping my team's spirit throughout the season and celebrating our collective progress during competitions. As business lead, I spearheaded a team of 8 students to raise $31,000 across two years by building sponsor relationships, receiving grant applications, and organizing major local fundraising events, like our annual local "LEGO Night." After the pandemic, I revamped team communication & sustainability via creation of a newsletter, process documentation, and business manual. I led a marketing team to develop and present award-winning robot branding. I also recruited and coordinated over 100 volunteers to administer two FIRST LEGO League in-person qualifier events and 2 virtual competitions for 700+ elementary students across South Jersey.
