During my time as Primary Researcher, I :-Successfully applied for and received the Summer Research Grant (UPS) to conduct ethnographic research in Bhairawah, Nepal on the social and cultural changes wrought by out-migration and return remittances.-Engaged in extensive research including a literature review on Asian Migration, Middle Eastern and Asian development history, household economy, and political ecology.-Constructed and followed a project budget including travel and living expense, translation costs, household stipends, and recording equipment.-Traveled to and lived in Nepal for a period of eight weeks while gaining critical insight into the social, cultural, economic and political contexts in which my subject population lived.-Conducted brief quantitative surveys and in-depth semi-formal/formal interviews with 20 households accessed through snowball and convenience sampling techniques.-Recorded, translated and transcribed interview data.-Consolidated and distilled pertinent themes using Grounded Coding.-Ultimately constructed a paper that was accepted and published by the UPS Sociology Dpt.
