Taught 4th and 5th grade environmental science courses in the winter/spring in local public elementary schools. In the summer/fall transitioned into Conservation corps crew. The work was a mix of chainsaw work, bog bridging, and daily stonework ranging from drainage to multiple staircases and retaining walls as well as historic preservation.

Director of crews of 12 teenagers responsible for the construction of bridges, ladders, retaining walls, trails, as well as habitat restoration, erosion management and campsite maintenance. The program emphasized safety and education. The crews were taught tool use and maintenance, trail layout/design, water management, and other ecological concerns..

Built trails and saw work comprised most of our season. A typical hitch was either 4 days or 9 days on- working on benching trails, cut and runs, fuels reduction, and erosion management. Retaining walls, crib walls, rock work, blazing, noxious weed removal were required of us but at a far less frequency than our emphatic trail construction and saw work..
