This is a transformational learning initiative meant to give students and teachers the tools to take learning and teaching to new levels Supervisor of the administrative staff – the business manager, three school principals, the supervisor of special education and student services, and the athletic director/data manager Continued a simplified evaluation system for administrators reliant upon goal attainment incorporating biannual reviews With the building principals, instituted a K-12 character education program, the Discovery Program, patterned after the program Robert Hassinger developed in the Halifax Area School District and based on the work of Joseph W. Gauld at the Hyde School in Bath, Maine With the business manager, developed balanced budgets allowing the district to add to fund balance With the local YMCA, developed a before and after school program for children, K-6 With the elementary school principal, instituted a PreK Counts program delivering all day instruction to fifteen four and five year-olds With the elementary school principal, brought a Head Start program into the school With the Supervisor of Special Education and Student Services, developed, staffed and instituted an elementary school, K-6, Life Skills Support classroom With considerable help from Carl Beard, negotiated contracts including spousal exclusion, greater control of tuition reimbursement, restriction on column movement, and “reasonable suspicion” drug testing with total percentage increases congruent or equal to 1.5%, inclusive of step Participated in the new Comprehensive Planning process
