This is a transformational learning initiative meant to give students and teachers the tools to take learning and teaching to new levels Supervisor of the administrative staff – the business manager, three school principals, the supervisor of special education and student services, and the athletic director/data manager Continued a simplified evaluation system for administrators reliant upon goal attainment incorporating biannual reviews With the building principals, instituted a K-12 character education program, the Discovery Program, patterned after the program Robert Hassinger developed in the Halifax Area School District and based on the work of Joseph W. Gauld at the Hyde School in Bath, Maine With the business manager, developed balanced budgets allowing the district to add to fund balance With the local YMCA, developed a before and after school program for children, K-6 With the elementary school principal, instituted a PreK Counts program delivering all day instruction to fifteen four and five year-olds With the elementary school principal, brought a Head Start program into the school With the Supervisor of Special Education and Student Services, developed, staffed and instituted an elementary school, K-6, Life Skills Support classroom With considerable help from Carl Beard, negotiated contracts including spousal exclusion, greater control of tuition reimbursement, restriction on column movement, and “reasonable suspicion” drug testing with total percentage increases congruent or equal to 1.5%, inclusive of step Participated in the new Comprehensive Planning process

 Responsible for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in a medium-sized school district of 4310 students having a high school, middle school, and four elementary schools With the aid of the Superintendent, worked to develop a Waynesboro Instructional Model which incorporates best practices in-house and research based Supervisor of the administrative staff, including six principals and four assistant principals; supervisor of all pupil personnel staff, including special education, guidance, and health services; supervisor of the evaluation of all professional staff, including those in need of improvement; supervisor of improvement plans and procedures for improvement or discharge; now participating in the Teacher Effectiveness Pilot Developed a simplified, utilitarian evaluation system for administrators which relies upon goal attainment and narrative presentation and incorporates biannual reviews Developer of budgets related to staffing, Curriculum and Instruction, and oversight of formula grants, including Federal Programs and the former PAPACT, ABG and EAP, now the PA Accountability Grant Supervisor of staff development and programs engendering instructional improvement Responsible for maintenance of the district’s strategic plan through estrategic; now participating in the pilot of the new Comprehensive Planning Process  Participated in Phases I and II of the Standards Aligned Systems initiative and wrote the district’s application for the SASMD program: Waynesboro was selected from a pool of thirty districts to participate with eight others in this new initiative

 Instructional leader in the K-4 building, with responsibilities for the oversight of the school Implemented the ETS Pathwise evaluation model in the elementary school With the Facilities Manager, developed a comprehensive crisis manual for the district Chaired the Professional Education subcommittee of the Strategic Planning Committee and entered the plan on the PDE esp site Implemented the Learning Focused Schools strategy in the elementary school and was instrumental in its district-wide adoption In conjunction with the CAIU, instituted standardized writing assessments to judge student performance Served as Federal Programs Coordinator and wrote all applicable grants, including Perkins Secondary Local Plan and Safe and Drug Free Schools Aided teachers to help students maintain and increase PSSA scores; averaged 75% proficient in Reading and 87% proficient in Mathematics, grades 3 and 4; PVAAS showed significant growth

 Assistant Principal for both Upper Dauphin Area High School and Upper Dauphin Area Middle School, in charge of discipline, attendance, and teacher supervision Directed SAP, anti-bullying programs, and Alternative Education  Developed several schedules for the middle school and implemented a model designed of necessity so the high school and middle school could share staff Wrote the school’s Alternative Education grant and its program
