- Writing a paper on scaling second-order optimizer PSGD to large models and distributed training by utilizing optimizer sharding, quantization, compilation and more (in progress). Initial results include significant wall clock improvements for LLM, CapPa, diffusion, LoRA, and RL over baseline.- Developing original implementations for training large models in a distributed fashion to explore SOTA methods.- Investigating efficient, distributed MCTS through MuZero to overcome roadblocks with using tree search at scale, especially with a large dynamic network, and study dynamic tree entry and exit methods and exploration/exploitation trade-offs. (in progress)-Participating in Google TPU Research Cloud program to explore PSGD optimizer’s efficacy on various deep learning problems, examine intricacies of training LLMs, and develop an implementation of MuZero/MCTS in JAX.
