The Great Grid UpgradeKey responsibilities:• Ensuring all site-based construction activities delivered by Principal Contractors are efficiently managed in accordance with National Grid policies/procedures and CDM regulations.• Acting as ‘Client Representative’ with a keen eye on safety, sustainability and the quality of the installation.• Facilitating of regular site safety walks, sensible monitoring of works and overseeing coordination meetings with all contractors on site. • Enacting the role of ‘Supervisor’ under NEC contracts.• Review the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

Site Engineer OHLKey responsibilities:• Planning, day-to-day coordination and management of sub-contractors. (Surveys, Environmental, Vegetation Clearance, Access & Enabling, Trackway, Security, Scaffolding, Traffic Management).• Production of Method Statements, Work Instructions and Risk Assessments as required by Safety Regulations and/or Client.• Planned and coordinated required resources (labour, plant, welfare & materials) to carry out projects.• Responsibility for day-to-day Health and Safety matters of staff and sub-contractors.• Reporting of Safety incidents and “near misses” both internally and externally as required to the Client.• Regular liaison with Client’s site representatives and attendance at any Client and project meetings as required.• Controlled costs and awareness of the financial status of projects.• Provided the Project Manager with all information required to produce Contract Status Reports (or other reports required by Client).• Provided well-documented information to support the Project Manager in submitting any project claims under NEC.

UK Wide OHL ProjectsKey responsibilities:• Install, build and refurbish overhead power lines up to 400kV. • Safely operating plant and equipment such as winches, Telehandlers and MEWPs.• Carry out all work in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of Balfour Beatty and its clients. • Work as part of a team to ensure the safe, effective and efficient implementation of OHL operations. • Complete all work to high quality standards, with a keen focus on continuous improvement.• Assisted rollout of multiple ‘power’ winter training programmes, ensuring competence of operatives/linespersons.• Aided the recruitment and assessment of apprentice overhead linesman.
