I have lived in Edmonton my entire life. When I was young, I remember my parents purchased an expensive camcorder to capture and create video memories of our family. This was my first exposure to having the ability to create a video. I always thought creating a video for Television or Theatre was unapproachable and meant for elite professionals. Yet here I was, an average kid creating my own personal videos. I was living out YouTube before it even existed. Of course, my videos were awful, but I gravitated to this amazing world of video creation that I felt would one day change the landscape of communications. And wow it sure did! Fast forward several years, and it is crazy to think that creating and publishing videos can be done in the palm of our hands at our fingertips. One could say this has saturated the industry. But I still see it as an opportunity to share a story and communicate a message to the world. What an incredible power and privilege that is! As my love for video grew, so did other aspects that complimented it such as lighting, audio, UX/UI design, writing, and web development. I am embracing all of these areas, but my first love is video editing. Regardless of which area I work in, I love that with every piece of content I get to work on, I get to treat it as a piece of art. The majority of my working career has been in news media. I have embraced the pressures of working under tight deadlines while adapting to this fast-evolving digital world of content creation. Despite all of this churning out content, I don't believe work needs to be rushed. I believe that you get what you put into it. I like to put in the hard work if I know It will result in a product that I can be proud of, especially many years later. I am all about providing communication skills that bring multiple stories to life. I read, I write, I record, I review, I renew, I rest, and I repeat. To sum up my career, I have continually learned from people better than me. I create content, and I love drinking coffee while doing it.
