Public Affairs Specialist
CurrentPresently serving as a Public Affairs Specialist for the office of Chief of Public Affairs, leading the organization's social media strategy and implementation.The USACE Headquarters’ social media program serves as a comprehensive communication, training and consulting operation throughout the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.Headquarters is active on platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Flickr and Army CORE.Research emerging trends, provide training and recommend new communication strategies. Responsible for advising USACE senior leaders, major subordinate commands, centers and field operation agencies. I also help others with quality control, streamlining operations and the removal of fraudulent accounts. I have directly supported the removal of 28k+ fraudulent accounts in this role.Following my first year in this role, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Headquarters was recognized with first place honors in the Herbert A. Kassner Public Affairs Competition for new media initiatives.In times of disaster, USACE is the lead agency for Emergency Support Function #3 (Public Works And Engineering) for the National Response Framework. In this capacity, I’ve coordinated social media efforts for hurricane events including Harvey, Irma, Maria, Florence, Michael, and Ida as well as other natural disasters such as engineering support to the national COVID-19 response.
