The Digital Beyond is part blog and part think tank. I began researching and writing about digital death and afterlife issues in 2008 along with my colleague, John Romano. Since that time I have become one of the leading authorities on the topic of digital legacy and archiving.I co-authored Your Digital Afterlife: When Facebook, Flickr and Twitter Are Your Estate, What's Your Legacy? (New Riders, 2010), which is the first book ever published about personal legacy in the digital age. As 2014-2015 President of the Triangle Chapter, I was responsible for leading a 600-member organization and its team of over 100 board members and volunteers. Under my leadership, the Chapter grew to surpass 600 members for the first time in its history.During the 2013-2014 year, I served as President-Elect leading the chapter as second-in-command to our current president and laying the groundwork for my forthcoming term as president. I also founded and directed Triangle AMA's inaugural High Five Conference.During the 2012-2013 year, I led the programming team for the Triangle Chapter of the AMA, which is responsible for monthly luncheons, special events, SIGs and social events. Under my leadership as Vice President of Programming, the association increased the overall quality of programming, attracting national speakers from companies including Target, NASCAR, Cafe Press and Outbrain. I was an invited speaker at AMA's Leadership Summit and Regional Retreat in 2013 presenting case studies from the Triangle Chapter.

As user experience designer, I am responsible for directing the user interface and information architecture for the ChannelAdvisor platform. This role blends my knowledge of user experience design, digital marketing and product management to design software that's effective and delightful for users. I serve as the liaison between a team of product managers and web developers providing solutions that meet both business needs and technical requirements.

As Lead User Experience Designer I was responsible for the overall execution of interactive projects and the direction of the user experience team. I led research, strategy, information architecture and interaction design activities for interactive projects of all sizes.As Capstrat evolved, I transitioned from Lead User Experience Designer to Lead Account Planner, broadening my focus beyond digital projects. Part researcher and part strategist, I distilled audience research into compelling directions for branding and digital projects. I developed expertise in a variety of industries including healthcare, professional services, energy and higher education. I also served as account lead for various accounts, responsible for the growth and profitability of those client relationships.I was invited to present my expertise on mobile marketing to the Knoxville, Baltimore and Triangle chapters of the American Marketing Association. I also frequently guest lecturered on user experience design to graduate students at UNC's School of Information and Library Science.

As User Experience Design Intern I began my agency career while finishing my undergraduate education. I worked alongside user experience designers to create wireframes and specifications for client websites. I performed user research via surveying and card sorting. I also participated in brainstorming sessions for web functionality. Perhaps most importantly, I learned how agencies worked and gained experience with healthcare and higher education clients.

I was responsible for planning social events for TriUPA in 2009 and 2011. In 2010, I was responsible for professional programs, including workshops and webinars. As an executive board member, I worked collaboratively with the board to shape the overall direction of the organization.

As a Technical Co-Op I worked on a three-person Speed Team focused on improving the structure and usability of technical documentation. Working with a team of technical writers, my team established a methodology and guidelines for content analysis and classification, helping writers to better use an enterprise-wide taxonomy. Our team worked with limited managerial oversight and presented to upper-level management on a regular basis.

Working alongside the full-time IT staff, I performed network management and help desk tasks as a summer employee. I assisted in implementation of an enterprise-wide Microsoft Exchange project.
