As I earn my master’s degree in journalism through Quinnipiac University’s 3+1 accelerated degree program, I’ve had many experiences in my first year that have taught me a plethora of skills that will be useful to me in many ways. News Writing is and Broadcast News Writing have both taught me how to write factual and engaging stories in ap and broadcast style, meanwhile Multimedia Production Techniques and Intermediate Production have both taught me how to create well-directed film productions using many types of equipment. By far the most impactful experience I’ve had as a student journalist was being selected as the executive producer for the student media group, Q30 Newscast. As an executive producer, It’s my job to ensure the show runs smoothly. I create rundowns, packages and vos on a weekly basis. I am also responsible for deleting work to others, and ensuring my team works together to create great show. I acted as an associate producer last year. Newscast has taught me how to comfortably keep up with a simulated news cycle, investigate leads and work well with others.I look forward to continuing to strengthen my skills in this industry and flourishing into a fully fledged, multi-talented journalist.
