About Evangeline Rouse

After completing my History of Design MA at the Royal College of Art and The Victoria and Albert Museum I have continued to develop in the museum and heritage sector. My background lies in English Literature which I read at Bath Spa University and achieved first-class honours. My interests are situated in discourses regarding the presentation of identity and biographies, with a focus on female lives and histories. As such the focus of my theses lay in this discussion. My dissertation 'Cultural Heritage: The Staying Power of the Gothic' unpacked the continuation of distinctly Gothic heritage sites, further discussing female Gothic literature and the presentation of Victorian women in contemporary space. My recent research expands on this grounding by investigating female histories and identities through the lens of female diarists and authors in museum homes.
