I teach K-8 music at Laveen's Cheatham Elementary School, a large Title-I school in suburban Phoenix. I teach general music to all K-5 Cheatham students and also teach the 6-8 choir program. After school, I am responsible for Eighth Notes, a choir for students in grades three through five, and started the Cheatham Ukulele Club.

In addition to all responsibilities of a summer Conference Assistant and Scheduling Assistant, I was responsible for training all staff members on the Shiftboard online scheduling management software, implementing a built-from-scratch hours distribution system, and training one other scheduling assistant.

Lincoln, Nebraska Area

Student teacher at Lincoln Public Schools' Kooser Elementary, teaching K-5 general music. Responsible for teaching all aspects of a well-rounded general music curriculum, including singing, performing on instruments, reading and writing music notation, composition and improvisation, performing expressively, and musical form. I also team taught after school ensembles, including two children's choirs, a world drumming ensemble, and an Orff ensemble.

Supervised use of facilities during evenings and weekends. Involved locking and resetting classrooms, checking out rehearsal space, ensuring safe and responsible use of facilities and equipment. Set stage and operated professional recording equipment for student recitals. Occasionally assisted with major School of Music events, such as audition days and professional conferences. Requires high responsibility and effective management skills.

Lincoln, Nebraska Area

In addition to the responsibilities listed below under the 2017 Summer Conference Assistant position, this year I had the additional responsibility of creating, managing, and maintaining the schedule for our summer conferences operation. This is involved creating the shifts according to specifications from University Housing central staff, filling the shifts with as much equity as possible between our roughly fifty staff members, and training the staff on the scheduling software. Because the operation chose to pilot a new scheduling management system, I had the added responsibility of creating a scheduling handbook for future generations of UNL scheduling assistants.

Primary point of contact for UNL summer housing guests. Provided quality customer service by responding to day-to-day requests and questions from summer camp and conference participants. Effectively served guests while practicing teamwork, honing problem solving skills, and working with a diverse group of coworkers and guests. Responsibilities included serving guests at residence hall desks, managing situations during on-call duty shifts, and miscellaneous administrative tasks.
