I began college as a biology major and switched to biochemistry during my sophomore year; as a junior, I chose to add a minor in physics. The trend towards study of fundamental phenomena is indicative of where my foremost passion lies: physical science. My interests include photonic and quantum materials for applications in devices and information science.I am an alumnus of Illinois Wesleyan University, where I graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors and was the recipient of the Professor David Bailey Prize in Chemistry. I was also a member of the varsity baseball team for the entirety of my undergraduate education.My research experience includes work in the lab of Dr. Brian Brennan at Illinois Wesleyan University in Summer 2022 and an R&D internship at Xerion Advanced Battery Corp. in Summer 2023.I am currently a Materials Science & Engineering Ph.D. student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I work in the Goldschmidt group (https://goldschmidtlab.web.illinois.edu/wp/research/). I will be studying properties of stoichiometric rare earth crystals for quantum memory and photonic devices.
