Folks call me Jarvix. I've been an integral part of the music scene in Oklahoma City for a number of years now, and if you're at all tapped into this scene, there's a chance that my reputation precedes me.I've been published by Oklahoma Gazette, KOSU, Red Dirt Report, Literati Press, and The Oklahoman. I won a Great Plains Journalism Award in 2023 for my local album reviews. I have a radio segment on The Spy every Saturday night around 9:30 PM called "Jarvix's Hot Dog! Song of the Week."I also do music myself, which has landed me coverage in all of those journals as well as multiple features with Uncovering Oklahoma, OkSessions, and a spread of local podcasts.Of course, this doesn't pay the bills (yet?), so I'm usually holding down a steady day job at any given time. I've done tax prep, banking, and accounts receivable work at a small handful of companies, always staying on board for a minimum of 2 years before moving up to something better.Currently, my passion is to continue building up my multimedia platform for music coverage called Make Oklahoma Weirder, which launched in 2018. Visit makeoklahomaweirder.com or follow on social media at @weirderok to check out what I've been up to.
