About Evan Marshall, Basc B.Eng
I am a recent Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering graduate from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Applied Science from Acadia University. *Currently eligible for NS Graduate to Opportunity subsidy*I am a mechanically-intuitive individual with passions for automotive design, engineering & marketing; consumer product design, engineering & marketing; salvage, material reclamation & upcycyling; creative & technical writing; CAD; backyard mechanics; and anything involving assembly, disassembly, or reverse engineering.I have two years of hands-on experience collaborating with DAL FSAE, Dalhousie University's internationally-competitive Formula SAE team, working on the braking system for the team's first all-electric open-wheel formula car (which won first place in endurance at Formula Hybrid + Electric in Loudon, NH, 2024!). I joined DAL FSAE in September 2022, with the development of a braking system for the new electric platform being assigned to me as a Capstone project. After completing that project, I was promoted to a leadership role within the subsystem, overseeing and inspiring iterative improvements to the system, carried out by new recruits.Beyond academia and FSAE, I have a diverse and eclectic set of hobbies which I always find myself referring to the lessons of in day to day problem solving. From backyard metal foundries, to hobby sawmill, material reclamation, and backyard mechanics, I carry a unique set of personal experiences.I am a thorough communicator, who enjoys both creative and technical writing; I am procedure-oriented but thrive when things go wrong and need fixing. I would love to work in a place that combines hands-on work (assembly, disassembly, refurbishment, reverse engineering, etc) with team design work, CAD, and rapid prototyping. I am also open to all manners of engineering work, and adapt well to team, individual, shop, office, field, remote, and hybrid settings.
