I’ve been a working journalist since I was 17 years old, and for 12 years, I ran Pitchfork’s news section. I love writing criticism and features about newer and lesser known artists. Writing one of Pitchfork’s cover stories was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. It was always wonderful getting to interview athletes and actors about their passions beyond their craft. Mentoring younger writers and helping them shepherd their ideas became my favorite part of the job. These are all things I’d love to do again.At Pitchfork, I became one of the entertainment journalism industry’s best breaking news writers in terms of publishing speed and accuracy. Stories with my byline generated massive traffic for the company; the biggest single traffic article in the site’s history at the time of my departure was one that I caught and passed along to the news team while I was off the clock. I’m in my element when I’m able to be creative as a writer, when I’m working with a team, when I’m in a detail-oriented editing process, when I’m telling stories, and when I’m given the opportunity to approach a project with a specific audience in mind. My focus is to continue my passion of working in journalism, marketing, or copywriting.In my free time, I’m dad. This answer used to be "writing poetry" or "scouring for punk music" or "watching wrestling" or "going to museums" or "playing video games" or "cooking," and all that stuff’s still in there, but these days any free time I have is quality time with my kid.
