I assisted two postdocs on research projects investigating the metabolic and molecular genetic properties underlying melanoma metastasis.Duties included: Genotyping mice using PCR and gel electrophoresis, CRISPR, western blot, qPCR, ELISA, Bradford protein assays, Ficoll gradient separation, bioluminescence imaging, mouse injections and dissections, tissue culture to maintain cell lines and conduct in vitro assays, and metabolomic assays such as lipid and Dynabead extractions.

Working in the Friedman Lab at the Institute for Behavioral Genetics, I conducted bioinformatic analyses of Genome-Wide Association Study summary statistics to investigate the molecular genetic underpinnings of executive function to hypothesize genes and neurobiological mechanisms driving this trait. I also determined psychiatric and neurological diseases that shared a common neurogenetic pathway with EF to theorize molecular mechanisms resulting from this genetic overlap and potential treatment approaches.

As an LA for NRSC 2200: Laboratory Techniques in Neuroscience, I supported two lab sections and met with faculty instructors, teaching and learning assistants once a week to plan course content for the upcoming week and assess student progress. I assisted the lead instructor in cultivating student understanding of the course material, facilitated classroom experiments and generally enabled efficient, optimal performance of the lab course.
