About Evanne Browne
A singer, soloist and educator, I have taught private voice for 30 years at university, private school and private voice studio. Students have won local National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions and successfully auditioned for paid positions and theater. A specialists in Baroque music performance, I am comfortable teaching all styles, including popular music. I conduct small and large choral ensembles and often teach vocal techniques to choral ensembles; provided workshops to music students at the University of Denver, University of Colorado and DePauw University. As founding Artistic Director of Seicento Baroque Ensemble, the only vocal group in Colorado specializing in the historically authentic performance of 17th and 18th century music, I have conducted the Colorado's only performances of the Monteverdi Vespers of 1610. Bringing together a community of hundreds of singers, I've conducted standard choral works such as the Duruflé Requiem, Fauré Requiem, Handel Messiah, Haydn Lord Nelson Mass, Bernstein Chichester Psalms, Brubeck Gates of Justice, Delalande Dies Irae (Western Hemisphere premier), and a staged version of Menotti Amahl and the Night Visitors. In 2016, I was hired as the conductor to launch the new Colorado Masterworks Chorus, and I previously served as soprano section leader and occasional soloists for Ars Nova Singers and a paid member of the Saint Martin's Chamber Singers. Director of Music for several churches, I am experienced in liturgical music, working with professional and volunteer choirs, children's choirs and beginning and advanced handbell choirs. As assistant music director for the Washington Christmas Revels, I have written and arranged music for their staged performances and recently had an original piece featured on a public radio broadcast. In summers, I am a regular workshop leader on various topics related to voice and choral singing for the Helena (Montana) Choral Week. My other skills include being a visionary planner, a detailed-oriented program and operations manager with solid background in production of performance events, on stage and behind the scenes; 20 years providing excellent customer support. Highlights have included the Monteverdi Vespers of 1610 with members of the Washington Sackbut and Cornetto Ensemble, a concert of voices and viols, an historic tribute to music influenced by Queen Christina of Sweden, and the Western hemisphere premier of the fabulously beautiful Dies Irae by Delalande. Seicento emphasizes education, teaching singers and audiences of all ages about the Baroque period, Baroque music, Baroque composers, compositions and performance practices, including the basic vocabulary of a baroque vocal style and articulation as well as period-appropriate pronunciation of English, Italian, German, German Latin, French Latin and French. At the heart of the ensemble are soloists whose depth of experience will contribute to rapid assimilation of Baroque vocal style and technique thus assuring accurate recreation of challenging music. These individuals may be featured in solos and small ensembles during performances.
