As a Senior Software Engineer at Azure Sphere, I played a crucial role in the development and enhancement of distributed image and publishing services for our IoT security device. My work focused on creating low-latency microservices that offered APIs for first and third parties to seamlessly upload, manage, and deploy their application images and artifacts to Sphere devices.Key responsibilities and accomplishments in this role included:• Designing and implementing efficient solutions to handle large application image uploads and publishing, ranging from 1MB to tens of GB, with a focus on reducing network load and optimizing chunk-based processing during asynchronous operations.• Collaborating closely with the Security team to establish robust processes for securely signing first and third-party application images during the upload stage, ensuring the highest level of security and compliance for our clients.• Successfully migrating our image and asynchronous microservices to utilize gRPC, resulting in improved performance, scalability, and maintainability of the overall Azure Sphere platform.• Continuously refining our microservices architecture to enhance reliability, performance, and flexibility, ultimately providing a seamless experience for customers managing their application images and artifacts on Sphere devices.In this role, I was dedicated to developing innovative and secure IoT solutions for our customers, ensuring that Azure Sphere remained a market leader in the rapidly evolving IoT security landscape. Software engineer working on distributed image and publishing services for the Azure Sphere IoT security device. These low-latency microservices provide APIs for first and third parties to upload and manage their application images and artifacts that ultimately get deployed to Sphere devices.I designed and implemented code to handle large application image uploads and publishing. These images can range from 1MB up to hundreds of MB or tens of GB. An emphasis was placed on how to reduce the network load and handle these large images in chunks during async processing. I also worked with our Security team on how these application images (first and third party) get signed during the upload process. I later migrated our image and async microservices to use gRPC.

Software engineer in Azure Sphere working on security and update services. Sphere security services run and manage a custom certificate authority. These certificates are used by the device so we know that devices calling into services are authentic and trusted. Once authenticated, they are allowed to receive application updates, if available. Managed Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs) and PKI related items to ensure maximum security is upheld for Azure Sphere devices.
