As a doctoral practicum student, I provide psychotherapy for medical students at the University of Arizona Medical College's biomedical campus in downtown Phoenix. In addition to attending the doctoral program full-time at NAU, I am also involved in continuing education and other intensive training and weekly individual and group supervision to ensure service quality. My current duty included:• Provide psychotherapy using Provided psychotherapy using Adlerian therapy, Person-centered therapy, Emotion-focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and art-based interventions for medical students enrolled in the medical program. • Provide culturally competent, evidence-based psychological and other diagnostic evaluation, risk assessment, counseling, crisis management, and referrals, as indicated, to University of Arizona medical trainees (individuals & groups).• Triage medical students in crisis and provide specialized counseling to improve medical trainee resiliency to help prevent and/or minimize anxiety, depression, and burnout. Working with medical trainees to develop new organizational strategies for those struggling to adapt to demanding schedules or balancing relationships due to academic needs. • Maintain appropriate documentation in an electronic health record system.• Host in-person and video conferencing appointments depending on medical trainee preferences and schedules.• Assist the Director of Wellness in guiding debriefing groups for programs, participating in mental health presentations, and responding to additional related requests from the college departments.• Based on medical trainee needs, create and deliver group sessions/presentations to help with known stressors and barriers to care when seeking mental health treatment.
