I am interested in Assistant/Associate Professor positions in psychology that include research and teaching duties. Currently, I am a faculty member at Moffitt Cancer Center. I would like to find a new position that begins somewhere between July 1st and September 2019. I have ~20 years of experience as an educator/researcher, including service as an educator in roles ranging from professor/instructor to working with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and undergraduate interns. I studied temperament and development with my graduate student adviser Mary Rothbart at the University of Oregon, which included my lead role in the construction of the Adult Temperament Questionnaire, which has been widely disseminated nationally/internationally (500+ Google Scholar citations for Evans & Rothbart, 2007 in Journal of Research in Personality). Over the past 15 years, I have studied various aspects of smoking behavior, including the cognitive neuroscience of executive functions in relation to smoking behavior (e.g., Evans et al., 2013 in Neuropsychopharmacology; e.g., Evans et al., 2018 in Nicotine & Tobacco Research). I have served as the primary instructor for several upper division courses, including personality psychopathology, and motivation and emotion at the Universities of Oregon and South Florida. I also give scientific presentations at conferences and universities, and I have played a role as a mentor and collaborator with numerous undergraduate research assistants/coordinators, psychology graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and volunteer research interns. My background includes procurement of multiple NIH and Florida Department of Health grants in the past, and I am currently awaiting an updated score on a resubmitted R01 grant application that will test Differential Cognitive Mechanism of Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Approaches to Smoking Cessation. If funded, I will be able to bring this grant funding with me to my new place of employment.
