My approach is to make sure the client is ready for their job search. My goal isn't to just get them a job, but to get them on the path to a fulfilling career. I keep my knowledge up to date to insure that the resumes and cover letters that I develop are current with the times.I also have years of experience developing and facilitating workshops on Resume Writing, Cover Letters, Interviewing, Hidden Job Market, Social Media, Career planning, Applicant Tracking Systems, Zoom Interviewing, Values and the Canadian Labour Market (focused on newcomers). During the pandemic I recognized the need to change the the content of the workshops. I adapted all of the workshops to a "Home Edition", showing clients how to continue their job search from home. I was able to present these workshops over the zoom platform, doing an average of 10 workshops a month. During the lock down I continued offering career counselling through zoom and email. I developed a catering social enterprise (DELISH Catering) with Abbotsford Community Services. I was working with newcomers to Canada and using their passion for cooking to bring new flavours to town, our tagline is Dine Local, Experience Global. This is a way for newcomers to gain Canadian work experience and a living wage in a supportive and encouraging environment. Covering a maternity leave from January - June 2017, I also launched Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants at Abbotsford Community Services. This is a program focusing on reconnecting immigrants with the Canadian workforce in their field of expertise from back home. The program develops action plans for participants and assists in improving their job search skills.

I was responsible for launching this program to assist immigrants new to Canada find employment. I recruited new clients for the program. I accessed their barriers to employment and counselled them on how to overcome them. I was responsible for the development and facilitation of employment based workshops. This was a maternity leave coverage.

I was responsible for the start up and managing of their new flagship store (30,000 sq ft) for the local affiliate.

Downtown Calgary

Assess and case manage applicants applying for Government grants for occupational skills training through the Alberta Works program under the "Ready, Willing and Able" criteria. Assess "at risk" high school students for government funding to enable them to graduate. Ensure that all documentation and files are in line with FOIP and that Government expectations and standards are met. When necessary provide career counselling to clients to better improve their employment opportunities. Facilitate weekly information workshops to assist clients with their applications and career directions. Teach a class at the Drop-In Centre for their Employment Skills Training program on "Career & Schooling-Making an Informed choice". Present at Maple Leaf Academy for their graduating LINC students on "Getting employed in the Canadian Economy".

Calgary, Canada Area

Assisted employers with the hiring and retention of Persons with Disabilities. Consulted on employers current facilities and policies and what barriers they may face when employing persons with disabilities. Provided a link to the resources and tools that were available to employers.

Calgary

Operated their warehouse and managed their "gift in kind" procurement. "Gift in kind" donations increased from $80,000 to $300,000 for 2009/2010. This was achieved by streamlining call backs and pick ups. Coordinated the distribution of donated furniture to low income clients. Managed and guided groups of volunteers that worked in the warehouse.

Calgary

Oversaw all areas of operations for the Restore. This includes: budgeting, advertising, human resources and volunteer management. Planned and opened a second store in 2006. Grew store sales 42% to over 1.2 million dollars. This was achieved by increasing product donation and increasing customer awareness and service.

Drumheller, Alberta

General Manager of the production and operations of the Canadian Badlands Passion Play. This position involved the coordination and motivation of over 200 volunteers over a 19 acre outdoor set. Increased attendance 15% to over 10,000 patrons for our 6 outdoor performances. The production ended their year with strong financial growth and stability due to my financial controls and accountability.

Calgary

Managed stores (known as Value Village in Canada) in Haney, Grand Prairie and Calgary. Responsible for the opening of the Grand Prairie location which set many new store sales records.The Calgary location had the 2nd highest sales of over 200 stores and a staff of 85 employees. This store was also used as a training store for new managers and supervisors. This complete understanding of the thrift industry, from product procurement to sales has lead to many personal and organizational awards.

Vancouver

Oversaw the complete operation of 15 Little Ceasars Pizza's in the Vancouver area. Responsible for their financial results and sales growth. Analysed results and addressed any problem areas. Trained managers and assisted in the opening of 3 new locations.

Vancouver Island

Managed the Pizza Hut location in town and in 18 months increased sales by 23%. This was achieved by reducing staff turnover, tightening financial controls and increasing customer service.

Lahr, Germany

Employed on the Canadian Forces base in Lahr, Germany. Managed the Airfield Coffee shop that was converted into a Harvey's/Swiss Chalet franchise.This was the first Harvey's and Swiss Chalet in Europe. Our population base to draw from was only 10,000, but we were still able to set consistent sales records. This location operated from 1992-1993 and closed only because of the withdraw of troops from Germany and the base shutting down.
