Co-FounderIdeafield Coworking Jul 2008 - Dec 2011Tampa, Fl, UsIdeafield was Tampa Bay's first full-time start-up and freelance-focused coworking office space. As Tampa's tech ecosystem matured, it was apparent that the local commercial real estate market was not adjusting to the realities of a more nomadic workforce. At the time, the available short-term office rental spaces catered to traditional service professionals (real estate, legal, financial advisors, etc.) and not the tech-centric world of freelancers and startup founders that coworking was catering to in other cities around the globe. By providing a collaborative environment for the what-if and gig (1099) workforce, Ideafield Coworking became a test case for this type of just-in-time CRE in central Florida.Ideafield started as a Meetup in a local Tampa Heights coffee shop, graduated into a full-time location at 308 E. Oak for its first year, and then moved to 19th Street in Ybor in 2010. It hosted a number of tech community Meetup groups and offsite company meetings including BarCamp Tampa Bay, Ignite Tampa Bay, Tampa Graphic Design, Tampa Bay WaVE, Lunch 2.0, Tampa's Weekly Tech Rant, Global Entrepreneurship Week, StarTec workshops, and many more.As the first of its kind tech hub in the Tampa Bay area, Ideafield coworking became a point of interest for commercial real estate and economic development professionals as well as tech organizations visiting from out of town. This new model of open and collaborative workspace was at the leading edge of a new era of Tampa's emerging tech workforce. -
