The National Treasury

GIZ implemented the Support to Public Finance Reforms (SPFR) programme at the National Treasury, Government of Kenya. One component supported the implementation of the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS). The IFMIS Academy aims to enhance IFMIS Re-Engineering through capacity building, training and continous learning for users in all Government Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Counties.

GIZ (Former inWent - the German Capacity Building Foundation) in partnership with FOSSFA - the Free Software and Open Source Foundation for Africa, implemented the ict@innovation programme in Easter, Southern and West Africa. I was in charge of the Linux Admin Certification Pillar of that programme whose aim was to build capacities for African SMEs to enable them improve the quality of their service offering through training and certification in open source software. This programme covered the East and Southern Africa region.

Co-founded the Linux Professional Association of Kenya (LPA-K) as a career support association for Linux and open source professionals in Kenya. The main objective was to carry out advocacy activities to promote the use of fee and open source software and technologies in the country, especially targetting the public sector. Together with other early adopters of open source in Kenya, we managed to promote the open source agenda in the public service by carrying out targetted advocacy activities and engaging with senior Government agents.
