My third venture in the logistics industry. The best way to describe my role is Dedicated Brokerage and Carrier Relations.I was solely responsible for all outbound freight from the Coke Consolidated facility in Sandston, Virginia. As such, I was the dedicated broker for all loads out of this facility going into Distribution Centers in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.To do this, I developed and closely managed carrier relations, the biggest being Cowan Systems.The concentrated nature of my position, as well as Red Classic's valued relationship with Cowan Systems, allowed me to smile and dial less, granting me the freedom to spend more time forging and maintaining lasting relationships with my favorite clientele- carriers.

Eager to learn the brokerage side of things, I sought out this opportunity at one of the oldest and most successful non-asset firms in the U.S. I hit the ground running, booking loads on my first day. I sat amongst the big dogs, filling an opening on a team of three senior brokers with over 50 years of combined experience. Through my veteran teammates, I was able to further hone in my negotiation skills, and expand my transportation knowledge.I ranked first in my office, and consistently within the top ten company wide, in outbound phone traffic each month. I smiled and dialed, and booked freight.

Where it all started. I was brought in to ease the workload of the two man team. With a fleet of 20 trucks pulling both flat bed and van trailers, and funded by a successful entrepreneur who had every intention of continuing the rapid growth, I was given a crash course in dispatching and turned loose. It was trial by fire, but I quickly took over dispatch operations, booking loads and tracking their progress. Mentored by the company VP, and operations manager, I became a fierce negotiator and well versed in trucking language. I will forever be grateful for the experience and knowledge I gained here.
