I lead the peak association for the mortgage and finance broking industry representing over 14,000 members throughout Australia. As Chief Operating Officer I develop and oversee the implementation of the organisation’s strategy and manage the business to advance the interests of our members.Shaping and influencing industry outcomes through advocacy initiatives is a primary activity that requires a high degree of focus, planning, and stakeholder management. Formulating strategies to advance the professionalism of the industry, to promote the value of the mortgage and finance industry to key stakeholders and to enhance the organisation’s value proposition are strategic imperatives.Other key accountabilities include corporate governance, strategy & risk governance and corporate services including but not limited to business development, customer service & sales, policy & legal (including compliance), finance, people & culture and information technology.Key AchievementsLeading the formulation of strategy and implementing a political national advertising campaign (i.e. Don't Kill Competition) with broad industry involvement to defend our industry during the 2018 Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry is a key achievement and highlight of my time at the MFAA.In March 2022, a further key highlight was the announcement by the Federal Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Housing, Michael Sukkar MP, that the 2022 Review of Mortgage Broker Remuneration by the Council of Financial Regulators and the ACCC will no longer be required. This announcement served as appropriate recognition for an industry that has reformed for more than five years through our leadership.

As Chief Operating Officer, I led a significant organisational transformation of the Credit Union’s business structure and its people and culture in order to achieve the strategic objectives aimed at restoring customer growth and enhancing customer service, improving staff capability and productivity, reducing operational complexity and strengthening financial performance.In the COO role, I had broad accountabilities for sales growth, sales distribution, customer service delivery, marketing, product development, pricing, operations, cost efficiency, productivity, risk management, administration & support services including procurement, fraud prevention, staff engagement and talent development, information technology and program management across the Credit Union.With the advent of digital technology and in anticpation of ongoing industry disruption I led the vision, design and development of new customer sales and service centres, as part of retail distribution channel strategy modernisation program to increase brand awareness, drive sales growth and to improve customer advocacy.Drawing on my general management experience I overseen the consolidation of retail brands and products and also retail rebranding to enable marketing and sales campaign initiatives to drive brand awareness and sales growth. I also sponsored and overseen the development of new business intelligence capabilities with new systems and enhanced analytics to better understand consumer behaviours and to efficiently report balanced scorecard key performance indicators.Leveraging my experience prior Chief Information Officer roles I effectively resolved and mitigated significant information technology issues and risks associated with complex legacy business banking platforms and operations, by successfully consolidating and rationalising data centres, IT teams and key business systems into an outsourced dedicated cloud environment.

Post acquisition integration strategies were a key enabler for Medibank to realise the financial synergies and operational benefits of a merger and acquisition. As General Manager of IT Integration, I directed and led post acquisition integration strategies across all divisions of Medibank. Key responsibilities were to drive the business planning of IT integration whilst giving careful consideration to improving the overall people and culture capabilities across Medibank.As General Manager I completed due diligence of acquisition targets, governed and overseen the execution of an IT integration program, and developed an IT Integration governance framework including an estimation model for future acquisitions. As a senior executive I was part of the IT Leadership team responsible for setting the direction for IT investments across the Medibank group and ensured strategic alignment and delivery to enable strategic growth and sales across the Medibank business.
