In my current position with Spokane Public Library I direct the Library's Artist-In-Residence program at The Hive, a new, cutting-edge library space dedicated to community space and the arts. This involves selecting artists, welcoming them and making their experience here the best it can be. The artists provide programming which I manage. We also host First Friday Artwalk events and I provide art programming during those events. The Hive itself and all the things involved with running this building are part of my duties. I am in charge of the library system's public art collection and curate and arrange monthly art exhibits at the Central Library. I act as an arts consultant and educator to all of the other library locations.

In this position I worked with a team to support the communications of the library, making sure that customers and citizens in Spokane are well aware of the great things that the library has to offer. I wrote and edited the library's newsletter, prepared press releases for the library, spoke on behalf of the library to the media and created internal and external communications pieces to promote our services and programs.

I wrote and designed the library newsletter, press releases, the annual report and all brochures and fliers for library programs. This position involved participation in several library teams, primarily the: web team, public services team and admin team. This department consisted of 1.5 FTE besides myself.

I volunteer for the Blueprints for Learning Board. Blueprints for Learning is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization working to increase the quality of child care and early learning in the Spokane community. They have two main parts: The Childcare Training Institute and the Community Building Children's Center (CBCC). The training institute is for child care providers to receive their child development associate (CDA) certification which makes them eligible for higher pay and helps them to be more committed to their work which is beneficial for the children in those preschool situations as well as their families. CBCC is the model center that is used to teach those in the training institute.

I did a wide variety of jobs for this small non-profit including registering all participants and volunteers, creating the database that housed all participant information. I worked on a newsletter, fundraising projects, general office work and in-field coordination of volunteers and participants. The organization was called SKIFORALL when I worked there. I loved this job and only left because we moved to NYC so my husband could attend graduate school.
