After years of hard work and with the support and collaboration of many wonderful colleagues, I was promoted to Associate Professor and awarded tenure.

Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the Professional Sales Program within the College of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology (EAST). Courses and topics that I teach at EAST in Professional Sales include Sales Technology, E-Commerce, Internet Tools, Sales Proposals, Big Data and Social Media Sales. I also have taught E-Commerce in the MBA Program (Goddard School of Business & Economics). My research interests and work are in the areas of Sales, Big Data, Internet technology, Internet sales, Social media sales and other technology related fields that help impact and grow the revenue of various online and brick/mortar sales organizations.

I worked with faculty, staff, community leaders, business owners and other stakeholders that support and grow a variety of economic development initiatives in and around Northern Utah. These efforts included the creation of Weber State Downtown, Startup Ogden, the Technology Commercialization Office, The Concept Center at Weber State and a number of other successful and permanent initiatives. I also worked with both the public and private sector to help start or grow companies in a variety of high and low tech industries, resulting in research and development that creates more high-paying jobs for the area and the state.

I oversaw the operations of the Foundation and substantially grew its footprint, resources and scope during my five year tenure. The Weber State University Research Foundation provides technology transfer services, intellectual property commercialization, and enterprise creation support to Weber State University faculty, staff, and students, as well as entrepreneurs, innovators, and business owners.

After a two years of creating and leading the Entrepreneurship Program and Minor at Weber State, I helped find and hire a new full-time Director and transitioned to this new role. As an Entrepreneur In Residence, I continue to work with students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to help them apply real-world experience and opportunities to their active businesses and startup ideas.

As Director, I created the Entrepreneurship Minor at Weber State (now available to all students, regardless of major). I designed the curriculum and worked it through the approval process at WSU and at the Utah Board of Regents. Next, I recruited talented, world-class Professors to teach the courses. I also teach the sales and marketing courses in the minor and work to advance the topic of entrepreneurship on the Weber State campus and in the Weber and Davis County communities. Weber State provides unique, hands-on opportunities for students to learn more about entrepreneurship thru real-world, applied techniques guided by proven success from well-known entrepreneurs. A new Director began in February of 2014, at which time I continued teaching in the program and remained on for an additional year as an Entrepreneur In Residence to help transition the program.

As CEO, I launched Datafy and lead the company towards incredible growth and profitability while building and launching a completely new core product from the ground up. I also led the recruitment, hiring and retention of nearly all of the technical, design and sales teams. This world class group helped add over 125 new Enterprise SaaS clients during my tenure. During this same time the Datafy business overall increased both annual recurring revenue and profits 4.5X (eight and seven figures, respectively) with no outside funding or debt.In addition to the incredibly innovative and industry leading products we built, another primary reason for this amazing success was because of the culture I was able to completely reboot. Turnover during my tenure was almost zero, amongst a very competitive market for technical and sales talent. Datafy is recognized by team members as "the best job they've ever had" and I am perhaps most proud of these types of comments. Culture eats strategy for breakfast and that was the mantra I lead Datafy with in conjunction with incredible sales growth and EBITDA performance.After launching Datafy, creating an amazing team and culture, and building a very strong base and direction of recurring enterprise SaaS revenue and high profitability, we were able to promote our very capable CRO/CMO to the CEO position. She is amazing and they continue to crush it!What a ride! I am excited for Datafy and am grateful for the opportunity to play a critical role in setting the company up for long term success.

Lawrence Capital Management (LCM), a multi-industry holding company I founded as a self-made, boot-strapping entrepreneur. LCM has invested in a variety of startup, growing and mature businesses from several industries, including international franchisor, venture capital firm, consumer technology, commercial real estate development, software, mobile apps and franchise restaurant chains. LCM has successfully exited three previous ventures (technology, multi-state restaurant chain, and venture investment firm).

I started, built and sold TwitJump in approximately 6 months realizing a terrific investment return and creating a great entrepreneurial success story.

I was a partner in three TGIFriday's locations (one in Utah and two in Idaho). These 3 locations where operated by my partners who own and operate 50+ other restaurant locations. Each of our TGIFriday's locations were highly profitable and successful during my time as an owner. I was an integral part of the capital formation, construction, opening and ultimate sale of the restaurants.

The company’s experience, skill set and business model empower franchise partners to strategically grow and build their brands nationally. Hired CEO and VP's who eventually purchased the company from us. They continue to successfully grow Franchise Foundry using our founding business model.

ELM properties held various commerical and residential rental properties in Davis County, Weber County and Washington County, Utah. Properties were held for reasonable periods and sold during the peak of the 2005/2006 real estate market. ELM portfolio included single units, duplexes, triplexes, vacation rentals and office buildings. Every property was sold for a profit, and every property maintained positive cash flow during our ownership. As founder and principal owner, I located, negotiated, purchased, managed and sold all properties. Many of the properties sold at the highest dollar per square foot in the history of their market areas.
