I finally pursued my true avocation and my secret and now not-so-secret passion - Since 2016 I have been painting in alcohol inks, encaustics and acrylics. I do a few fine art shows a year and when I retire from the US Capitol Visitor Center, I will be a full time abstract artist.

Performing as the lead in training and development for the 200 employees of the Capitol Visitor Center, including visitor guides, visitor assistants, and other staff.

Vibrant colors and shapes define my one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets, pins and earrings, made from my own embellished glass, crystal, lampwork beads , semi-precious stones, and Kazuri* beads. (*handmade beads supporting disadvantaged Kenyan women)I have always been an artist at heart. Although my career has been in education and business, I have spent much of my free time for the past several years handcrafting jewelry. I sell my jewelry at local craft shows and home parties and enjoy sharing my creative outlet with others.

I ran the day-to-day operations and drove the marketing, promotion and educational efforts of the business. James Tkatch Photographer is the premier meetings and event photography company primarily covering international and national conventions and legislative activities such as hearings, association lobbying and constituent visits.

With more than 25 years experience as an assocation and education professional, I worked with association, corporate and government clients in their efforts to reach and exceed their organizational goals through strategic planning, retreat facilitation, and management and leadership training. I have designed and presented many workshops and facilitated numerous retreats, meetings, and focus groups in areas such as Strategic Planning, Teambuilding, Leadership Skills, Communications, Volunteer Leadership, and Adult Learning Techniques. I was selected to speak at several national and regional conventions and institutes.

Operated and designed the educational programs for members of the association, supervised the meetings design logistics for the annual meetings and events. Served as a consultant to the organization in education and meeting design for three years after leaving the full-time position of Vice President in 1995.

Operated the education and meetings department, supervising 10 professionals. Responsible for the development, design and logistics of 2 annual conventions, and several educational programs and other meetings and events.

Designed and facilitated executive programs for business and government executives.
