My work a water engineer working for the JASPERS joint technical assistance instrument of the EC and the EIB, involves the provision of support and technical assistance to beneficiary countries in order to help them prepare high quality water, wastewater, flood risk management and disaster risk projects to be co-financed by the EU Structural and Investment Funds. https://jaspers.eib.org/

My work involved the planning, design and execution of procurement engineering and service product management projects. My responsibilities were, among others, ensuring the timely procurement and delivery of spare parts, establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and monitoring the ordering process. I provided daily reports and conducted data analyses on spare parts inventory and management and assisted in developing strategies for improved product service and procurement logistics activities.

Summer industry placement at a foundry producing metal castings. My responsibilities included: • Carrying out daily calculations and analyses for the production of casting products made of plain carbon steel, cast iron and alloys according to their specific technical characteristics • Performing tasks that are part of the production process such as degating, heat treating (hardening, tempering, quenching), surface cleaning and finishing• I was also in charge of performing quality control checks on casting products using both non-destructive and destructive methods. Test methods included liquid penetrants inspection, magnetic particle inspection, spectrometer analysis, atomic absorption analysis, tensile strength tests, ultrasonic inspection among others). These tasks required establishing and maintaining relationships with colleagues as well as clients, meeting deadlines as well as working on my own initiative and doing extensive laboratory work. An analytical and methodical approach to problem-solving and a great attention to detail were also critical requirements of my work.
