My role at Flo & Frankie is a Senior Sales Assistant allows me to develop strong communication and customer service skills. As a stylist, it is important to interact with the customer and find solutions for their needs which has been really beneficial for building problem-solving skills under time pressure. This role emphasises the importance of team work and collaboration.

My role at Mitre 10 MEGA was in the seasonal department which included barbeques, outdoor heating, and outdoor furniture. This required a high level of product knowledge to be able to give advice to find products suitable to customers’ needs and outdoor spaces. Problem solving was also an important skill to be able to help customers when they had issues with products or were unsure how to use them. This role developed strong skills in stock management, sales and customer service.

This role taught me important skills in cash handling, food safety and customer service. As such a busy café, time management and efficiency were incredibly important, and built essential skills such as communication and team work.

My time at P4G meant providing a high level of customer service at large events such as ushering, crowd control and greeting customers. Health and Safety was always of top priority at these events, and the knowledge from this has always carried onto other positions I have worked in.

GirlBoss Edge: Law, Policy, Government Edition is a highly selective leadership accelerator programme for high school aged young women. Through this 10 day programme, I underwent high-level leadership training and received transformative mentoring from New Zealand's leading legal, policy and political professionals. I worked in collaboration with companies such as Chapman Tripp, and DLA Piper; and organisation's such as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice - to solve real world problems. Through this incredible, life-changing, experience, I have been motivated and energised to continue to create change and innovate in the sectors of Law, Policy, and Government.
