As a Program Support Specialist, some of my responsibilities included: coordinating volunteers' schedules and making appointments with clients, reviewing insurance options with clients in person and over the phone, and data entry and organization. Excellent communication, problem solving, and costumer service skills were vital in this position because I worked one on one with a diverse demographic of clients. When I first started with Community Choice, I was primarily working with SHIBA, a statewide program that advises clients on all medicare related needs. Four months into my time at the organization, I transitioned to working with the Health Homes program as a Program Assistant. I worked alongside the care coordinators to provide excellent care to the clients that empowers them take control of their health. I audited the monthly billing to the clients' insurance, and communicated with the clients to identify what their needs are and connect them with the appropriate resources.

As a front end assistant at Costco Wholesale, I work side-by-side with cashiers and provide them with any assistance requested of me. My primary role is to safely and efficiently pack the members' groceries back into the cart. I also work with a team outside, collecting shopping carts from the parking lot and returning them to the front of the store, ready for member use. I am always available to assist members, whether it be helping them locate a specific item, or putting them in contact with manager so they may assist them.

I connect clients who attend the free tax preparation service with various public benefits and services that they qualify for. Such benefits include: Basic food, health insurance registration, utility assistance and/or pulling their credit report.

As a connection desk volunteer, I connect underserved community members in South King County with various social services that meet their needs. The connections I make range from, housing assistance to job applications. I help my clients understand all of the social services that are made available to them to make their lives easier and healthier.

I was a student researcher at this community organization. My role was to perform a research investigation into the effectiveness of one of their current programs, a baseball league. I conducted interviews with members of the baseball league, and with member of the community in order to discover the strengths and weaknesses of the program, through the eyes of the participants and community. I then executed a project that was specifically designed to fix the weaknesses that were highlighted in my investigation. I gained valuable experience in community development and empowerment.
