Evelyn Olson presents herself with a unique skill set, derived from a trifecta of academia, athletics, and professional experience. Driven by a keenness for solving analytical problems, she approaches each endeavor with an ambitious mindset.Academically, she has maintained a 4.0 in core accounting class and sought a Data Analytics Essentials Certificate. Athletically, she is a part of ASU Women’s Club Hockey, and she takes pride in growing the sport she fell in love with as a youth in the valley. Olson contributes her go-getter mentality to lessons learned early on in athletics and will continue to be involved in hockey for as long as she can.Professionally, her experience ranges from working as an Accounting Aide: managing data in the university’s financial department, to a Forest Health Technician: surveying the forests of North Dakota. Both positions gave insight her insight into the internal operations of large-scale organizations, fostering her continued appreciation for analytics. Through exposure to financial reports and environmental data, she was able to bridge the gap between the two and envision strategies to promote sustainable practices through accounting. In her work with the North Dakota Forest Service, she mainstreamed data collection, reduced costs, and increased efficiency in a statewide program screening for invasive species within forests. Olson is on course to obtain her CPA certification alongside a Master of Accountancy and Data Analytics. While working towards her goal, she intends to enhance her range of experience to someday combine sustainability initiatives and drive financial success with like-minded individuals. In the meantime, she spends her days in the Arizona sun, planning out which hiking trail is next on her list.
