My top five strengths are (in no particular order):► Strategic► Restorative► Empathy► Adaptability► IdeationThrough my work as a case manager I have become a strategic problem solver. I am empathetic to those I work with, but my purpose in their lives is to help. Therefore, I do not let emotions cloud my judgement. Working with the homeless population is difficult because clients are in high stress situations and sometimes have mental health problems that prevent them from achieving their goals. As a case manager in that environment I need to be able to adapt to the needs of each client and in doing so I need to be creative because what might work well with one person may not work with another. Now that I am a journalist I apply the same skill set I use as a case manager when I am reporting. I am sensitive to the needs of others, I am objective and respect boundaries. My objective is to work as a journalist who helps share stories of wrongdoing and injustice, but also stories that show the best of humanity. If I could have it my way I would travel the world to share stories from all around the globe. I guess that's where ideation comes in.
